I'm a little late on this blog post, but I was determined to get it out. A couple of weeks ago CrunchGear announced a meetup in Columbus, OH (only 1.25 hours away from me!). I was so excited something like this was so close to home (especially way out here in the midwest!). So my dad and I hopped in the car and went together.
I met many great individuals including Jason Blanton & Alvin Borromeo (bloggers, WordCamp Ohio leaders, IgniteColumbus) and the elite John Biggs, Editor in Chief of CrunchGear. Located at the Surly Girl on the short north, our little back bar room was quickly packed with enthusiastic tech geeks. Naturally many introductions were made and lots of business cards were passed out, which soon became a repeated reminder of how brainless I was not to have brought any. Overall I had a great time and met some great people that I hope to be able to meet up with again in the future. I'm realizing that Columbus is a great place for tech geeks like myself & that there are more events and opportunities to network than I thought. (Check out Majelly.com)
Speaking of this event, I have yet to get back with all of the wonderful people I met there so if you're reading this post and you're one of them, don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you & you'll be hearing from me soon!
I hope they have more of these. Next time I'll bring business cards.
