  • The Tides, They Are A'Changing

I've had a lot of fun creating the shows that I have thus far. Even though producing a show daily certainly has been a busy ride (sometimes I'd cast six shows a week) it's been a great experience for me. I've learned many lessons and now it's time to apply the lessons I've learned.

If any of you have ever produced a show you'll know that it takes a lot of thought, time and effort to make a script, plan the show and edit video; that is if you want to have a decent show.  Doing that every single day and living in a house with four younger siblings (ages 1-8) makes it a bit tough to find quiet time to film to say the least! So 2AM quickly becomes the optimal time for these things (not so good for my beauty sleep! And trust me, as much as I love him I'm not exactly going for the Mike Arrington look; I'm pretty sure my dad is already taking that one up anyways.)

Having said this, shooting a daily show and working so hard is a matter of pride and glory for some Internet celebs like the ever so energetic Gary Vay.ner.chuk of Winelibrary.tv who loves his fans so much that he shoots a daily show. Props to him, but he's also a $50M+ dollar a year man.  Unlike Jenaé here who is running on a shoe string & matchbox budget for the time being, I still love my fans, I love to work hard but I've got some good reasons for what I'm about to do.

So don't get me wrong, I love doing my daily show. However the real reason for changing it up in 2009 is for more than just the fact that daily shows are leaving me sleepless.   Cranking them out daily doesn't leave much time or room for preparing interesting content and interacting with the community, and that's where I am calling foul on myself and demanding a change.  I feel I have so much more to offer you all than a plain commercial pitch and startup daily. As Vaynerchuk's mantra goes: PHCC (patience, hustle, community and content). Also, since inYourShirt.TV was launched, I need to focus on the grand scheme of things, building the network and attend to other business ventures that require my attention.

First thing's first, I'll be scaling down the number of shows per week.  I'll eventually take it down to 1 show a week (a show every Tuesday).  The switch will be gradual and won't actually begin until February. My content will revolve around technology highlights, startups, health & web industry insights. And of course I'll sport the shirt of the day.

I'll be posting updates to my thoughts, my progress, etc. soon. February is the time to look out for a changed show!

Feel free to share your thoughts below in the comments section. I know that some of you will like this change and some won't, however I'm confident with this decision.

Still, let me know what you think even though there's not yet a show for you to judge by. Once I have one of the "new" shows up you can better judge for yourself.  I think you'll find it a pleasant surprise.
